Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity…Charles Mingus
How could you simplify your life today?

Consciously seek out people or places that inspire you.
Motivation and inspiration need to be managed just like any other emotion in life. You do have a choice about feeling motivated and inspired. Recall all the times that you were excited to be alive and reflect on the events that produced this feeling. Could you re-create these types of environments for yourself?

Two days ago I woke up tired. I couldn’t understand why. I went to bed earlier the night before and slept solidly for over 8 hours. It didn’t take me long to realize that this wasn’t just a lack of physical energy. I felt a deep mental fatigue, attributed to an intense work week.
The logical part of me said – “Tough it out, kid, and stay on task.” A deeper inner voice told me something different. I received a strong message to change my routine that morning by changing the order of what I did. I chose to listen to the message. Instead of doing a left-brained activity, I did a right-brain one. (It can work the other way too).
Changing my routine created some surprising (to me) changes. The right brain activity helped me to relax mentally. It felt much like a school recess does for kids who feel cooped up. As the day unfolded, my energy on all levels increased. That afternoon the carpet cleaning fellow arrived at his appointed time. Since this was his first time here and he had various questions, I decided not to work in my home office while he was here. Instead, while he cleaned carpets, I cleaned out the refrigerator. This surprised me to no end. I hate this odious task, but for some reason was in the mood to do it. I took everything out, washed all the shelves and bins til all was sparkly clean. The carpet cleaner and I both finished at the same time.
When I returned to my office, my phone rang with two more huge real estate investment leads. This reminded me that I don’t always have to MAKE things happen as much as ALLOW them to happen by paying attention to my energy and following it.
