Empower each other!

June 30th, 2008 1 comment

Welcome to the second half of 2008! Is it all that you expected, and better?

I expected more to be accomplished, therefore, I now have an accountability buddy with whom I email daily, and a life empowerment buddy with whom I have a call each week. My book at Time For My Life is the main focus for my accountability buddy, plus my life empowerment buddy and I are working on the Clean Sweep Program
I also have two friends who I’ve been meeting for coffee each Friday morning for the last 8 years. These two friends have shared some powerful self improvement programs with me, over some years. We meet to create what’s next in our lives, and to keep our personal growth ‘alive’.

Generously, some of you have you subscribed to Triggers at Forward Steps and you’ll notice, in the header, that Triggers’ sub-title is ‘Once stretched by a new idea, your mind never regains its original dimensions’. Imagine two or more minds stretched by the same ideas. That is known as masterminding, and we all know the immense value of that.

Is today the day that you will invite a few of your friends, to join you? In fact, why not set up a monthly coffee meet with your mates, to explore the content in each month’s edition. Empower each other! An illustrative story about the power of your friendships, and how we support those friendships, is in this mini-article at Are You A Duck Or An Eagle?

As a side note, last week I sent my subscribers an important message in an email titled ‘[Your Name] – Important Message from Thea at Forward Steps’ It was mailed 24 June, so please look through your emails and retrieve that one, then please take action on that information. You can also access that message at this post at the Forward Steps Notice Board

Remember too, that on July 1 you have the chance to be one of 100 Charter Members of I Create Profits for a special reduced price.
If you’ve ever wanted to create online profits yourself, then check out this new video based instructional site created by my friend Christopher Westra and his partner Josh Reid. See more about the benefits of residual income, and this special offer at the I Create Profits Program
I’ve seen these video steps myself and Christopher and Josh do break it down into the simplest steps that you can follow. Christopher thinks that all 100 memberships may be gone by the end of the day on Tuesday 1 July, so don’t wait.

Are You A Duck Or An Eagle?

June 30th, 2008 No comments

Photo of a duck pond at the w:Queen Elizabeth Park.Image via Wikipedia

Dr Wayne Dyer believes that there are two types of people in the world- Ducks and Eagles

Ducks are easy to recognize. They think in Duck-like ways. They spend all day in the duck pond with their little Duck friends. Their responses sound like quack, quack, quack as they try to convince others that they are right. The Ducks often tend to quote the rules or policy manual to try to avoid hard questions or as a reason to avoid solving a problem. Ducks are often guilty of the exact same things that they often quack (complain) about.

Ducks have no idea that soaring above them all the time are Eagles.

Eagles are people who have found success and soar above conflict. Eagles are optimistic and choose a positive attitude. Eagles are always aware of the Ducks’ existence and the dangers that looms within the Duck pond.

Ducks can be very sneaky. They have a way of luring others to join the Duck pond….this includes Eagles Once caught in the pond, Eagles will quack along with the ducks and can often find it difficult to leave. Some are able to leave immediately….others it may take much longer. But most Eagles will leave the pond eventually and begin soaring the skies again. But the majority of Ducks are Ducks. They will never change, even with extensive counseling or training.

Ducks and Eagles can be found in nearly every situation – you’ll see them in your offices, homes, churches and organizations. You see them in families and groups of friends. You’ll encounter them as you go about your errands and with every person you encounter as a customer…..the bank, grocery store, dry cleaner, restaurants, etc. The Ducks let you know how difficult their job is and what an inconvenience you are. Eagles go above and beyond to provide excellent service…even if it’s just with their positive attitude and general likeability.

Ducks and Eagles are also easy to identify. Look around. I’m sure you can easily identify who belongs in each group. However, do you know what group you belong in?

Achieve A Big Vision

June 30th, 2008 No comments

Birch-bark canoe - in the temperate regions of eastern North America, canoes were traditionally made of a wooden frame covered with bark of a birch tree, pitched to make it waterproof.Image via WikipediaRobert Schuller once said that “You can’t fire a missile from a canoe”. A leader’s vision for his organization may sometimes be limited by current structures in the organization. There are also times when vision may be limited by structures that are not present within the organization. The organization’s objectives too play a great role in determining the results that will be yielded. There must be a solid foundation that ensures that any goals pursued will be achieved satisfactorily. A granary cannot be pushed into a hut.How then do we ensure that our output will be measurable to our input without having to demolishing our present structures? How do we develop a system that allows us to fire missiles from canoes without toppling over into the water?
Every vision needs to be strengthened by the underlying philosophies and values that guide the organization. You can’t expect to achieve a big vision when the guiding philosophies do not match up to the vision. You cannot expect to accomplish great things when your strategy is flawed.
Here are some ideas that can enable you to secure an output that is worthy of your input

Short Text Tools for Twitter and URL’s

June 25th, 2008 1 comment

WWW's Image via WikipediashortText.com is a simple tool to post text online, with minimum fuss. No sign ups, no sign in, just instant web presence for your information. Here are some great scenarios for using Short Text

Don’t have a website? Don’t want a blog? Want to share a piece of code…perhaps a recipe? Just paste your text below and click ‘Create URL’! shortText.com now supports direct linking to your images and video.

I created one here with them, with a bought URL from them http://www.shorttext.com/forwardsteps You don’t need to buy your own URL, however it is handy for me to have one for Forward Steps. Only $2 per year and easy to save and update etc.

Any URL which is generated with the “Make it private” box checked will not appear in shortText.com’s search results/Top views/Latest views and RSS feeds.

No emails are stored in the database when you forward the URLs to your friends through the website’s “Email” link.

In case you don’t want to share the information you post here with everyone, you can lock it with a ‘key’ of your choice and give the URL and key to the people who are privy to this information. Locked text will not appear in search results.

These people also created Twitzer, a Firefox extension which lets you post text longer than 140 characters on Twitter.com. It can also convert TinyURL.com links to actual links so that you are sure what link will open.

Explore my other recommended resources, in the side bar of this blog.

Does the body always tell the truth?

June 25th, 2008 No comments

Vertical section of bladder wall.Image via WikipediaThe body holds us together in this reality. It allows us to express ourselves and to communicate. Without it we would be dealing with another reality, so again, let’s allow our focus to be bodily. The body is also often a reflection of our inner selves. It has its own language. The body changes expression if you are comfortable or disinterested, even if your words say something else.
But does it tell you the truth?
Look at the study done in 1952 by E. Sh. Ayrapetyants. To make quick work of this, basically the study tested people’s response to having pressure applied to their bladders. During this time, they were given a meter to read so that they could see the increase of air pressure their bladders were incurring. Later, without telling the participants, the researchers stopped applying air pressure to the bladders, but the meters continued to read as though the pressure was still happening. Ultimately, the participants all reacted and felt the bodily response of having pressure on their bladder just by seeing the meter results. Pavlovian all the way.
Again, I ask, considering this… Does the body always tell the truth?

Life Power Tip #462

June 25th, 2008 1 comment

Remember to see the obvious, too!

We so like to entangle the issues of our lives. Sometimes things are actually quite simple, and we think they ought to be more complicated. ‘The Obvious’ may be staring you in the face, right now. Are you ignoring the simpler option, and looking for something more abstract or sophisticated? The simple may just do the trick and take you from where you are, to where you want to be, much faster and more easily.
