Why would Buddha say such a thing?

Buddha - Zen Story - Four Wives[Image via Wikipedia]

During the Ching Dynasty, a wealthy sick old man summoned his four wives to his bed-side. He was dying and wanted company on his journey. He wondered, “Will any of my wives accompany me to the next life?”

He asked his first wife, “My dear wife, I loved you day and night, I took care of you throughout my whole life. Now I am about to die, will you please go with me wherever I go after my death?”
The first wife said, “My dear husband, I know you always loved me. You are dying. Now it is time to separate from you. Goodbye, my dear.”

He called his second wife to his sickbed to ask her to follow him in death. “My dear second wife, you know how I loved you. Sometimes I was afraid you might leave me, but I held on to you strongly. My dear, please come with me.”
The second wife answered rather coldly. “Dear husband, how can I follow you? You loved me only for your own selfish sake.”

He asked his third wife to follow him. With tears the third wife also refused, “My dear, I pity you and I feel sad for myself. Therefore I shall accompany you to the graveyard. This is my last duty to you.”

Now he called his fourth wife for whom he didn’t care very much. He had treated her like a slave and had always showed much displeasure with her. She certainly would say no.
But when he asked, she answered, “My dear husband, I will go with you. Whatever happens, I will be with you forever. I cannot be separated from you.”

A New Website For Listing My Online Tools

April 30th, 2009 No comments

Forward Steps list of favorite online toolsI have just recently created a new web page with my favorite online tools, and this site will have more added to it, as I find more.

When I find something that does a job better than a tool I am currently using, then I will replace it with a better one.

This blog will still list and add others, plus retain the original online software, widget or tool links. This way you can select from the ones that I have collected and used over time, choosing the one that is most preferred by you.

By the way, you can even let us all know about your favorites at the Forward Steps Online Resources Links page I created as an add-on for you all.

Life Power Tip #498

April 30th, 2009 No comments

A belief is a thought that you have decided is true.

A personal belief changes the way you feel about something. You emotions (how you feel about something) determines the action that you will take, or will not take, in that area. Address your emotional state and then check in with the validity of a particular belief, if it is a belief that is not serving you and if it is one that is blocking you from moving toward a desired outcome. Decide to believe a new truth, one that empowers you and raises your confidence.

This webinar video reveals 5 little-known quickie conversion techniques and tricks for getting more opt-ins, more response and more profits in less time on any website … with the same traffic you’re already getting!

The webinar video replay is NOT about traffic or getting more eyeballs on your site. This is about MAXIMIZING the existing traffic you’re getting (whether you get 10 visitors a day or 10,0000 visitors a day, these techniques will work for you!)

Now on this special LIVE, one-time-only webinar replay you’ll see and hear:

How a simple “screen shot” on your site can increase conversion by over 22% (and it’s a technique you can use no matter which payment processing company you use!)…

How revealing “a dirty little secret” nobody talks about can actually increase conversion and DECREASE refunds at the same time (do this right, and the sales increase… do it wrong and you’ve shot yourself in the foot)…

A free tool for quickly grabbing subscribers from your sales pages without giving up the sale (in fact, you can use this tool to give subtle “commands” to website visitors to increase readership)…

How one simple graphic can increase opt-in rates to a newsletter by a whopping 18.4%! (That’s right, one little 60×96 .gif file increased opt-in’s to Jeff’s newsletter by almost 20%)…

WHY your email “footer” is a hidden profit center you can put on complete auto-pilot! (This is truly a “set it and forget it” source of sales and opt-ins you can do once and reap the rewards over and over for weeks and months)..

and much, MUCH More!

Due to the nature of this webinar video and the Special BONUS, they’re only keeping this webinar site up, for a very limited time!

Life Power Tip #497

April 27th, 2009 1 comment

What you say about yourself & your life determines what shows up in your day-to-day experience.

Just for one full day, try out a ‘Pollyanna’ view of life. Turn around everything that you might otherwise see as negative, and give it a positive or upbeat slant. Look at what is right and replace any potential ‘what is wrong’, with the advantages of situations. After one day of playing with this, you can have back the negative perspective if you still want it. I am only asking you to try it out for 24 hours!

Life Power Tip #496

April 26th, 2009 No comments

The past can be very useful and empowering.

As in the words of Paul Harvey – in times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these. Think back to the months before the media told you that times were bad. Now, look at your life with some truth. Have your personal circumstances truly changed, or is it simply that you are now living each day with a cloud of fear overhead? Fears of what might happen, rather than what is actually so, in this moment, now. What could you do about that, if anything?

Judging a book by its cover

April 23rd, 2009 No comments

Karen Chaffee at utipsenhanceyourlife.blogspot.comTake a peek. Have a listen at the video. Notice the before and after looks on the faces of the judges and the audience. Also notice Susan’s determination to remain unphased as she stands before them all on that stage. They had taken one look at her and made a false judgment, but even now, they are looking at Ms. Boyle in the light of having at least given this lady a chance. Her gift to sing beautifully far out-shines the way she is perceived if one were to judge the outside package alone.

Susan Boyle is a beautiful life lesson in simple trappings. She had the courage to stand there, wiggle, smile, joke, in spite of the initial reactions she garnered, and that lady sang. Public speaking, public performance of any kind, is the number one fear among people every where. During her five minutes of fame, now far extended, this woman taught at least three lessons: be yourself, be courageous, use your talent – no matter what.

The saddest thing is that too many pre-judge at all!
