Understand Your Website And How Your Visitors Use It
I love the simplicity of the tracking software by whos.amung.us, allowing you to better understand your website how your visitors use it.
There are two main widgets available, the original widget which comes in a variety of sizes and colors, and the maps widget.
The original widget displays how many people are currently on your website or blog. The number represents concurrent unique users, meaning no person is counted twice and once they leave your site.
The map widget is an exciting way of showing where all of the past and current visitors come from. Maps are also very customizable, the background, pin style, and colors, and size are all configurable. I have personally used that widget at www.forwardstepsblog.com (near the bottom right hand, in the side-bar).
There is no registration to use their widgets. Simply take the HTML code you see and put it on your website, or use one of the instant install buttons under the codebox for supported networks. Their widgets are free to use and they will always remain free.
The Firefox extension/addon allows you to see how many people are on your website from the convenience of your browser’s status bar. It requires that you have one of the widgets installed on your site already. That extension only works with the Firefox web browser.
You can read much more about the whos.amung.us serice at their help page.
Here is a sample that I created – hope it works OK inside this blog post!:
