The way we can shift emotion is with our thoughts. We help that along by changing our interpretation of what we experience and see. We need to become more vigilant with what we feed our minds. It is so easy to fall into automatic patterns, we’ve had years of practice! It’s going to take conscious action on our part to manage our mind patterns.
All this does not need to be hard work. Spend a little time everyday, even if only 5 minutes, to elevate your thinking to that place which makes you feel most grateful, happy and uplifted. Change your body’s posture to one that empowers, then think of your favorite place to be or loveliest thing to be doing. Spend a few moments visualizing, observing that “5 minute gem” in your mind’s eye, while feeling the emotion that this vision evokes. 🙂
Reframing disempowering thoughts, as questions, is another excellent way to instantly change how we feel. The right questions will put you back in the driver’s seat and direct your mind to focus on solutions. One of my favorites is from Debbie Ford, “Will this choice [action or thought] propel me toward an inspiring future or will it keep me stuck in the past?”

When we are genuinely committed to our own development and growth then it is our responsibility to be deliberate with our actions for improvement of self. We are the ones who need to choose, when and how, to step out of our comfort zone…
