Choices Decisions Happiness Talent

Choices Decisions Happiness Talent! So often we might not see the wood for the trees and believe “it’s fixed” that certain life paths are mutually exclusive.

How often do we actually ask ourselves the question: How can I have both – or all?

Is it always necessary to give up one goal for another? True, singular focus is often hailed as paramount to achieving success in a chosen field. However, it is also true that one interest might actually complement another – to deliver breadth, an opportunity to step away for clarity, or simply a breath of fresh air, diversity and a strengthening of a broader range of skill sets.

In the case of the young man in this video story, surely he could have both? One of his interests clearly supports the other, being active in sport would help fitness for trumpet playing and having musical talent alongside the sport means he’d have something else, about which he’s passionate, in which he can get involved when the basketball career is at an end.

When you find yourself at a cross road in life, before making any firm “decision”, how about asking yourself first: How can I have both – or all? Other than birth and death, nothing is set in concrete to such an extent that we cannot experiment a little with our own lives.
